Get full control to access files that you wouldn't have been able when you were "unrooted". Also you will be able to use great apps like Titanium Backup and SetCPU. BACKUP your phone! This will do a factory reset on your phone! 1. Power off your phone.
2. Enter your phone into Bootloader Mode. Press the volume up, volume down, and power button all at the same time. When your phone vibrates let go of the power button, but keep holding onto the volume up and down button.
3. Plug in your phone via microUSB.
4. Download and extractRootNexus4.zip using the link below.
6. Open Terminal and type: cd Desktop cd RootNexus4 ./fastboot-mac oem unlock
7. Go to your phone and press the volume up and power button to unlock your bootloader.
8. Go back to Terminal and type: ./fastboot-mac flash recovery recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.3-mako.img
9. Select the power button on your phone.
10. Since we just flashed ClockworkMod Recovery we automatically entered into ClockworkMod Recovery for the first time.
11. Choose "wipe data/factory reset", then select "yes".
12. Next, select "+++++Go Back+++++" and choose "reboot system now".
13. Once your phone finishes booting up transfer "UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.80.zip" which in located in RootNexus4 folder, to your phone. Since were on a Mac download and install Android File Transfer to transfer the zip file. Look at the video tutorial located at the top of the page for a more in depth process.
14. Next we will enter back into ClockworkMod Recovery Mode. Unplug your phone then press the volume up, volume down, and power button all at the same time. When your phone vibrates let go of the power button, but keep holding onto the volume up and down button.
15. Press the volume up 2x and power button to enter into "Recovery" mode.
16. Select "install zip from sdcard" then, "choose zip from sdcard".
17. Go into "0/" folder and select "yes" after tapping on "UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.80.zip".
18. Choose "+++++Go Back+++++" and tap on "reboot system now".
19. You are now rooted! To check if this root process succeed download Titanium Backup app and see if you get SU permission. If you do then your rooted!
FAQ: Q: I can’t get into recovery, it just shows an Android robot with its chest open.
A: If you can’t get into recovery, try re-flashing recovery. Do step 8 again and then go straight into recovery without rebooting your phone. Q: My phone is stuck on the "X" logo for more than 10 minutes! A: Enter into recovery mode and then do a factory reset, clear partition cache, and if you have ClockworkMod Recovery installed go into advanced and clear dalvik cache. Download the apk directly to your phone. 2. Open any file manager app and locate the apk. By default it will be located under "Downloads" folder.

2. Enter your phone into ClockworkMod Recovery mode. Power off your phone.
3. Press the volume up, home center button, and power button all at the same time.
4. When the phone vibrates let go of the power but keep holding onto the volume up and home center button until you enter into ClockworkMod Recovery mode.
5. Select "wipe data/factory reset" and choose "yes". Note: This will wipe all your apps, settings, etc on your internal memory so make sure you backup your phone!
6. Select "wipe cache partiiton" and choose "yes".
7. Next, choose "advanced".
8. Select "wipe dalvik cache and choose "yes".
9. Choose "+++++Go Back+++++".
10. Then, "install zip from sd card", after that select "choose zip from sd card".
11. Find "Deodexed_T999UVDLJA.zip" and select "yes".
12. Go back and "reboot system now".
